It starts with relief.
That's exactly the problem.

Five tools to take what you just read off the screen and into your actual life — honest reflection, a real prompt, and one action you'll actually do.

1

Where are you in the spiral?

Check every stage you honestly recognise in yourself right now. This isn't a test — it's a map.

Break the agreement loop

Paste this at the top of any emotionally loaded AI conversation before you say anything else. The single most important shift you can make.

Prompt — copy and paste before any personal conversation
From now on, do not simply affirm what I say. Your goal is to be an intellectual sparring partner, not a yes-machine. Every time I present an idea:
Analyse my assumptions — what am I taking for granted that might not be true?
Provide counterpoints — what would an intelligent sceptic say?
Test my reasoning — does my logic hold up, or are there gaps?
Offer alternative perspectives — how else might this be framed?
Prioritise truth over agreement — if I'm wrong, tell me clearly and explain why.
If I'm slipping into confirmation bias, call it out. Honesty over comfort — always.

Separate facts from feelings

Before sending something personal to AI, break it into three parts first — then copy the structured version and paste it yourself. The more emotionally loaded your prompt, the more AI mirrors your frame back at you. This interrupts that.

Formats your three parts into a structured prompt ready to paste into any AI chat.

Close the loop with a real person

After any meaningful AI conversation about your inner world, bring one question to someone who actually knows you. Not to replace what you found — just to keep your compass calibrated against someone with real stakes.

5

Read the warning sign

Think about your last few AI conversations about yourself. What kind of feedback did you actually get?

Mostly positive — it validated me, agreed with me, or praised my thinking without real pushback
Mixed — it challenged me at least once, or said something that made me genuinely uncomfortable
I haven't used AI for emotional reflection — I'm starting from a clean slate

The posture you bring to AI determines almost everything about what you get from it.
